The session begins by creating a calm and quiet environment. The practitioner may dim the lights, play soft music, and ensure a comfortable and peaceful space. The practitioner and the recipient engage in a brief conversation to establish a connection and discuss the purpose of the session. Intentions for healing or relaxation are then set. The recipient usually sits or lies down comfortably, fully clothed. Many people choose to stand to ensure their entire aura gets cleansed. The practitioner may use a series of hand positions, placing their hands slightly above specific areas of the recipient's body. These positions correspond to energy centers or chakras. Both the practitioner and the recipient take a few moments to center themselves and connect with the present moment. Grounding techniques, such as deep breathing or visualization, may be employed. The practitioner channels Reiki energy through their hands into the recipient. This energy is considered universal life force energy and is believed to promote balance, relaxation, and healing. The practitioner may focus on specific areas where the recipient may need extra energy or where they may be experiencing tension or discomfort.
After a suitable amount of time, the practitioner gradually concludes the session. They may use their hands to sweep away any residual energy or use a grounding technique to ensure the recipient feels stable and balanced. The practitioner and recipient discuss the session, sharing any experiences or sensations felt during the attunement. The practitioner may offer insights or guidance based on their observations.
The recipient is encouraged to drink water, rest, and take it easy for a short period to allow the energy to integrate fully.
It's important to note that the effectiveness and experience of a Reiki session can vary among individuals. Some people may feel a deep sense of relaxation, warmth, or even emotional releases, while others may have a more subtle experience. The practice is often considered complementary to traditional medical care, and recipients are encouraged to consult with healthcare professionals for any serious health concerns.
